Another well-written and insightful book from Robert Rodriguez, Jr.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading Insights From The Creative Path, as it is well written and full on insightful information. This book has renewed my drive for spending time in nature and making photographs that connect emotionally with the viewer. Robert's Eight Principles of Nature Photography really resonated with me and helped me to approach photographing nature very differently. Robert masterfully uses a variety of quotes to bring clarity to his intended message. The chapter that caused me to "stop and take notice" was On the Value of Self-Confidence. I learned to commit to my vision and not to compare myself with others. As Robert stated, "Photography is not a competition." I appreciate Robert's books, as well as his gracious sharing of his knowledge and wisdom.

Refresh your entire photography experience

n his latest book, Insights From the Creative Path, Robert has created a valuable collection of ideas and exercises that invite us along the path to become better photographers.
I am 67 years of age and have been ‘taking pictures’, off and on, most of my life, and am technically pretty fair. “Insights’ has shown me a whole new way of approaching ‘image making’.
Nurturing, perhaps even discovering our creativity, requires adding some mental and emotional awareness before we press the shutter. Robert’s book delves into these areas by sharing his own experiences in becoming more creative. Additional wisdom comes from the feedback of students attending his workshops in creativity.
A couple of concepts that come to mind: the value of creating prints of our images. I have noticed that examining the end result of a print feeds back, full circle, to the early stages of contemplating a new capture. Another one: I have enjoyed immensely the rewards of being more mindful and aware of myself in nature as a result of meditation, discussed and recommended by Robert. This improved awareness lets me see things I just wasn't seeing before. Amazing!
Robert has taken good advantage of the ‘electronic-ness’ of eBooks by frequent use of live links to other web sites - shop for a recommended book, further discussion of some point, etc.
Insights From the Creative Path has become a permanent member of my eBook collections on my iPhone because it has elicited in me those mental and heart-felt ideas that I wish to review and nurture, over and over again.

A path to your own creativity and photographic style

Robert Rodriguez is a well-known professional fine art photographer and instructor specializing in landscapes. This book is replete with his personal experiences and lessons learned, and he shares them with unstinting generosity. Read this as a guide to discovering and improving your own style and vision. The volume is filled with his wonderful photographs illustrating the creative exercises he outlines for the reader. He includes pertinent quotes throughout with links to artists and thinkers providing not just one book but an e-shelf overflowing with information, ideas and inspiration. Read the book, do the exercises you’ll be a better photographer.
